ST16 Ltd. – Wins Film Award!

2nd February 2007

Corporate communications company ST16 Ltd. always produce film and media that get results and on Friday night (2nd February 2007) secured more recognition for their work. Surrounded by Aston Martins and free flowing champagne the Stafford based company bagged a British Association of Communicators in Business (CiB) accolade at the Central Region awards ceremony at the Heritage Motor Museum in Warwickshire.

“It is fantastic to have staved off some of the regions best talent to secure an award.” Said Simon Crofts who directed the film.

The award was secured for ‘The Keeper’, a film produced for the Moorland Association, which aims to change perceptions of game keepers and educate people on how to behave responsibly while enjoying moorland spaces.

“People don’t take notice of lecture style films these days.” said Producer Jeremy Stinton and added “So we came up with a fresh approach to ensure the key messages were conveyed and taken on-board in an entertaining, attention holding way.”

A young boy, separated from his school party and lost on the moors, is helped by the (real) gamekeeper Fred to find his way back. During their encounter the boy learns many of the moorland's fascinating secrets – and the audience come to appreciate the key role of the gamekeeper in maintaining a natural balance and protecting many species including ground-nesting birds like grouse. Using Steadicam, ST16 ensured a consistently smooth shot and exciting sense of dynamic movement even when walking over rocky terrain. The film is now showing in a dedicated projection theatre in Edale's brand new visitor centre.

"My end clients were 'over the moon' with the finished film. It neatly conveys all of our required messages in an entertaining way which ensures the audience don't feel 'dictated to'. Despite a tough filming schedule with many unpredictable variables including wildlife, a rugged outdoor environment and the moorland climate, ST16's professionalism and highly experienced team made it an easy, productive and fun process."
